Grace is rumbling, her discomfort at being in these temperatures in her winter coat combining with the desire to take her family back to where she knows how things work leading her to call to her daughters and turn her face toward the portal. She waits though. Her people are talking to the other people, and she doesn't know if the other people want in a pouch.
"How long does this thing stay on?" John is asking. "Do you want it back?"
"No need to return it. They're common enough in our world," says Rocinolle. "There's a set of lights on the rings. They'd be red now, meaning to be careful. When they turn yellow it's clear to put some weight on the leg, but the bone's not all the way healed yet. When they're green the brace can come off."
"There's a set of four buttons and the order to press them in to unlock is printed under them." It had been done that way to keep people from accidentally knocking the braces off.
"If there's anything else you need to know, I live here in the Nexus. There's a building that way with a big yellow metal creature in front." She knows they won't know what a metool is. "It's harmless, and I'm usually in the repair building right next door."
"So long as the portal remains stable," says Rocinolle. "Otherwise..." she looks around for a moment and fetches a handful of PINPoints and an instruction pamplet from nearby, and then holds them up. "Here, these are a sort of teleporter that will let you get back here if you want."
