Moriarty sits at his desk, staring out the sitting-room window in an almost dreamlike manner. After what seems like an eternity, he stands and addresses his flatmate.
"Moran, I--"
Pause.
"Am apparently no longer in the sitting room. Again. Really, this is getting quite tiresome."
He finds a suitable chair. Pulling an astronomy journal from his coat, he asks (to no one in particular), "What is the most surprising thing you have learned about your friends and associates?"
Why not? After all, Moran isn't here...and the professor might not even be aware he asked out loud.
